The National Weather Service Cooperative Observer, also known as COOP, shares data from state to state. To say there is a network for sharing data and understanding why these networks matter are two very different things. A weather station network allows for real and true prediction of weather data. A singular station gathering weather statistics tells about that one place, which is great. But, this is limited in its value. By looking at regional, state, national, or even international weather statistics and data, a person or group can see a broader range of benefit. Therefore, those that want to join a network should know that they may actually be helping in predicting weather patterns across the world.
